19.4 miles now, got to go riding again this morning (5.8 miles). getting hot out also, received the license plate in the mail brian came over and took it for a 7.1 mile ride

finally got back on the bike. I was a bit nervous at first because it had been so long. but by the end of this session I had gained some confidence in turning and stopping. rode for about 20 minutes (5 miles). now up to 13.6 miles

Got to ride for 2.3 miles, then the crews descended to re-pave the street. total of 8.6 miles now.

Well I haven’t gotten to ride the bike any more, it’s been raining. Since the tires aren’t even broken in no way am I going to ride on wet streets. I sat in the garage tonight playing with the controls and took the seat off to stash the necessary paperwork.

this morning I was able to get in about 6 miles of practice, riding around the neighborhood. I was practicing keeping my head up, looking where I wanted to go, and proper turns (slow down, look, lean, roll on throttle through the turn). I expect to get in some more miles tonight.

Yesterday I went by the Kawasaki dealership to try to learn how long the wait would be on the Ninja 250R and how much it would cost. They wrote that all up for me, and said it would be 3 weeks or so. The offer from the dealer was MSRP, plus the typical boatload of fees. I wished I could sit on one. The dealer said the 650 was similar, since the 250 was based on the 650 [which actually isn’t true, but they are at least of similar size], so I sat on that.

I bought a new cablemodem. Each morning this week, the cablemodem was down until lunch time. last night it went down too. today it never came back on. From what I hear, they actually wear out slowly and sporadically… they will just start getting flakey, rather than die all at once. The old cablemodem was still flashing orange lights when I unplugged it and put the new one in. it took a couple minutes for the new one to get all

bought an extra set of wheels with factory bridgestone potenza RE040s. can’t decide if I just got some tires for cheap for the street, want to put race tires on the extra wheels, or if I should re-sell them and just get some nice tires to use for both street and autocross. I ended up selling the wheels and tires individually on ebay for a tidy profit, and using the proceeds to buy some Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires.

I was doing stuff on my computer tonight at home, then I realized I had updated my calendar at work but hadn’t pushed the changes to the server (I did a git commit, but not a git push, I was in a hurry to leave to pick up aiden from school). no prob, I thought, I’ll just log in to the vpn, get on my computer at work (fission), and push the changes.

now I’m thinking about re-building my server too, after the successes with my workstation and laptop. for this one, I would get a new, big hard drive, and do the install on it, then copy all the files over. first step will be to shop for hard drives; they are cheap now, but I hope they still make the kind I need for my server, which is a turn of the century model.
